Archie Carroll Walker

Mr. Archie Carroll Walker, 71, of Waycross died Saturday afternoon at his residence after a brief illness. He was born in Waycross to the late Marcus Earl Walker and Myrtis Inez Thrift Walker. Mr. Walker had made Waycross his home for all of his life. Mr. Walker graduated from Wacona High School in 1957. He served during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force. Mr. Walker was honorably discharged from the Air Force on November 15, 1966. He retired as a machinist with CSX Railroad in 2000 after 43 years of service. Mr. Walker was a member of Winona Park United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his sister, Linda "Cookie" Herrin of Waycross, a brother, Glenn Walker and his wife Marilynn of Waycross, nieces and nephews, Troy Herrin and his wife Christina of Waycross, Myrtis Proctor and her husband Victor of Waycross, Glenn Walker, Jr., and his wife Melissa of Tallahassee, Florida, Mollie Howard and her husband Linton of Blackshear, three great nieces and one great nephew.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
