Marcus E. (Buck) Walker, 67, died unexpectedly Saturday night in Memorial Hospital after an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Walker retired in 1977 after 18 years of service as a city fireman. A native of Brantley County, he had lived most of his life in Waycross. He was the son of the late Ward Walker and Lovie Woodard Walker.
He was a member of Winona Park United Methodist Church and the Men’s Bible Class.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtis Thrift Walker, Waycross; a daughter, Mrs. Linda (Cookie) Herrin, Waycross; three sisters, Mrs. A. Z. Griffin, Hoboken, Mrs. Helen Penny, Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Margaret Bass, Columbus, Ga., and four grandchildren.
Funeral will be held today at 3 p.m. in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
