HOWARD Y. CLARKE, 83, of Memphis, retired from Operating Engineers Local 369, died Tuesday at Methodist Hospital after a stroke. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Memorial Park. He was a World War II veteran, a veteran of the Marine Corps, a Mason, a Shriner and a greeter, usher and member of Central Church. Mr. Clarke, the husband of Eula Doyle Clarke, also leaves a daughter, Debra Denise Deao of Lakeland; two sons, Howard Y. Clarke Jr. and Edwin M. Clarke, both of Memphis; a brother, Robert E. Tanner of San Antonio, eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Central Church.
