Services for Aaron Barge, 85 of Zavalla will be held Monday in the First Baptist Church of Zavalla with Reverand Fletcher Erwin, Reverand Bob James, and Reverand James Stepheson officiating with burial in the Barge Cemetery.
Aaron was born Sept.-27-1890 in Sulphur Springs Community in Angelina County Texas to the late John William Barge and Mary Ann Cryer Barge.
Aaron resided in Zavalla most of his life and was a prominent retired merchant and rancher. Mr. Barge was a Graduate of Sam Houston State College, then known as Sam Houston Institute.
Aaron was a pioneer East Texas School Teacher, a member of the board of directors of the Texas National Bank, a member of the local Draft Board for many years, and was a member of the Firtst Baptist Church of Zavalla.
Suvivors include ; wife Vara, son J.A. (Snook)JR. of Zavalla; daughter Mrs. Pat Logan of Houston; 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, step son Betwyn Walker of Lufkin.step daughter Mrs. Mozelle Franklin of Zavalla, 4 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren.
