PIONEER OF COUNTY DIES
Mrs. Emma Myers, 84, Passes Away This Morning
Mrs. Emma Hoover Myers, 84, resident of the county her entire life, passed away this morning after a lingering illness at the home of her son, C. O. Myers, five and one-half miles north of Iowa City on highway No. 161.
Born May 1, 1851, on a farm near North Liberty, Mrs. Myers had resided in that vicinity her entire life. She was married to Mr. John Myers on September 4, 1873, and they resided on a farm until 27 years ago when they moved to North Liberty. Mr. Myers died September 8, 1933.
She was a member of the Church of God of North Liberty until she joined the Methodist church when she moved into town. She was an active member of all of the women's organizations of the Methodist church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. M. E. Swords of Eldon, Iowa; four sons, Ernest, route No. 1, Iowa City, O. P. of Cedar Rapids, C. O., route No. 2, Iowa City, and R. C.of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Maria Anciaux of Great Falls, Mont.; a half-sister, Mrs. Maggie Gilland of Iowa City; a brother, Mr. George Hoover of Audubon; a half-brother, Mr. Tom Cogland of North Liberty; and 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church in North Liberty, with the Rev. A. M. Smith officiating. The Oathout funeral home is in charge.
