JOHN MYERS DIES FRIDAY
North Liberty Man Will Be Laid to Rest Sunday
North Liberty -- Funeral services for Mr. John W. Myers, prominent resident of this community who passed away at his home at 10:20 o'clock Friday night, will be held at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. A. M. Smith, pastor of the church, will be in charge. Interment will be in Ridgewood cemetery, near North Liberty. The body will be at the Oathout funeral home until the time of the services.
Mr. Myers was a life-long resident of Johnson county, being born September 10th, 1852. Had he lived until Sunday, he would have reached his 81st birthday. He had been an invalid a number of years, having suffered a series of paralytic strokes.
Mr. Myers was prominent in musical circles in this community and until his health failed, was a leader in this activity.
On September 4, 1872 Mr. Myers was married in Iowa City to Miss Emma Hoover of North Liberty.
Surviving are the widow, two daughters, Mrs. O. E. Cress of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Edna Swords of Eldon, four sons, Ernest and C. O. Myers of Iowa City, O. P. Myers of Cedar Rapids and Ralph C. Myers of Moberly, Mo., a sister, Mrs. Emma Zeller of North Liberty, 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. One daughter passed away in 1911.
