He married Wanda Zofia Ciesielska in 1907 in Newark, Essex, New Jersey, USA. He became the father of 11 children: Teresa "Tess", Franciszka "Frances", Estelle "Stella", Wanda, Dorothy "Dora", Eleanor, Anthony, Lucille, Amelia "Emily", Leon Jr., and Walter Tony Sobka. His wife Wanda passed away in 1940. He became a naturalized US citizen December 12, 1940. Leon Sr. passed away March 19, 1954 at the age of 74.
