She had seven sisters, and three brothers.
She started getting into trouble in her teen years, and spent time in correctional facilities and was a parolee for some time.
She had a daughter out of wedlock that was given up for adoption around 1940 when she was about 16. This was also the year that her mother passed away.
In 1946, at the age of 22, she was set to wed her fiance, Carl Anthony Hodges who was away in the army. She stumbled across a little boy, and lured him away with candy. She never hurt the child, and eventually left him at a school where he was then returned to his parents. She said she longed for a child, and wanted the little boy as a friend. She served time for the kidnapping, and made the newspapers worldwide. In 1948, she and Carl applied to be married afterall. Emilia started going by her middle name, and by a second middle name, making it harder to find her. In 1986 Emilia married John Joseph Paulukonis in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they lived together until her passing in 1997. As far as her extended family knows, Emilia never did have another child. When Emilia passed away, she was going by the name "Darlene Regina Paulukonis".
