Worden E. Hanchett, 72, of Asotin passed away Monday morning after a two weeks illness.
Mr. Hanchett, son of Carlos and Jane Hanchett, was born at Leroy Minn., Nov., 5, 1871. In 1908 he married Kathryn Olson at Merrillan Wisconsin, and they moved to a homestead in eastern Montana. Ten years later Mr. Hanchett established a home in Rexford Montana, were he worked for the Great Northern railroad for several years. Leaving Rexford in 1923 he and his family moved to Kalispell, Mont., to live for three years. They then came to this section of the country. While living in Asotin, Mr. Hanchett worked in the gold mines and lumber camps of central Idaho.
Survivors include the widow, Kathryn, two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Jones of Clarkston and Mrs. Betty Huber of Lewiston, Idaho, and two sons, Hale Hanchett of Asotin and Ross Allen Hanchett, U.S. air corps.
Rev. Hedley A. Vicker officiated at the funeral held Wensday afternoon at Merchant's chapel in Asotin. Honary pall bearers were Henry Liebnau, John Forgey, George Shellmen, Joan Koppes, Jay Swain and Louis Clousit. Active pallbearers were Merle Williams, Hugh Curry, Charles W. Charlie, A. A. Wormell, Daniel Kent, and Richard Hollenbeck, the remains being laid to rest in the Asotin cemetery.
Hymns were sung by Earl Willams and Ed Bucnoiz accompanied by Nan Fryzell.
