Obituary in THE POST AND COURIER, Charleston, SC, 17 Aug 1997: North - Sallie Hair Amaker, 94, died Friday in a local nursing home. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Orangeburg. Burial, directed by Thompson Funeral Home, will be in the Amaker Family Cemetery. Mrs. Amaker was born in Norway, a daughter of Warren C. Hair and Martha Hassie Hair. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was the widow of Fred Amaker. Surviving are four daughters, Mildred A. Black of Orangeburg, Gladis A. Hall- man of West Columbia, Martha A. Campbell of Lexington and Laverne A. Suttles of Plant City, Fla.; two sons, Hilton Amaker of Wilmington, N.C., and John Edwin Amaker of Goose Creek; a sister, Lourine Boltin of Orangeburg; 31 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
