Goose Creek - Services for John Edwin Amaker, 70, will be held at Thursday, August 9, 1999 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Antler Dr., North Charleston. Interment will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens. J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Greenridge Road Chapel is in charge. Mr. Amaker died Monday evening, August 9, 1999 at a local nursing home. Born in Orangeburg, Co., he was a son of Fred David Amaker and Sallie Hair Amaker. He was a retired Machinist with the Chas. Naval Shipyard and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Surviving are his wife, Lois Wannamaker Amaker of Goose Creek; sons, Charles H. Amaker, Fred E. Amaker, both of Goose Creek; daughters, Deborah A. Strange of Moncks Corner, Teresa A. Rogers of James Island; brother, Hilton Amaker of Orangeburg; sisters, Gladis Hallman of Columbia, Mildred Black of Orangeburg, Martha Campbell of Lexington, Laverne Suttles of Plant City, Fla.; five grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. © The State, Columbia, SC, 11 Aug 1999
