Of Milroy
Dies at 102

Miss Emma A. Terhune, 102, of Milroy, regarded as Rush County's oldest resident, died suddenly about 8 a.m. today at the Kuhn Nursing Home in Waldron, where she had resided the past three years.

Miss Terhune, a retired school teacher who spent all of her life in southern Rush County, continued to claim Milroy as her home.

She retired in 1941 after teaching school for 50 years, most of that time at the Milroy school. Miss Terhune also formerly taught the Dorcas Band at the Milroy United Methodist Church, of which she was a member.

She was born May 30, 1869, the daughter of William B. and Elizabeth Kerr Terhune, and observed her 102nd birthday last Memorial Day, when she received many remembrances.

Miss Terhune, a graduate of Marion College, was a member of the I.S.T.A.

Only survivors are nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Murphy and Burns Funeral Home in Milroy, with the Rev. L. D. Robertson officiating, and burial will be in the Richland Methodist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday.
