The REV. CHARLES G. BARNHART, 69. R.R. 3 Fayetteville, former administrator of Piney Mountain Home, died at 1 am Sunday in the Chambersburg Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital Wednesday afternoon and was critically ill since Thursday.
Born in Waynesboro Nov. 20, 1908, the Rev. Mr. Barnhart was a son of the late Milton W. and Grace Gossert Barnhart. He lived in Waynesboro in his early life and attended the local schools. As a young man he was employed by Landis Machine Co. for a number of years.
Mr. Barnhart was ordained a minister of the United Brethren in Christ Church in 1959. He served congregations of that denomination at Pleasant Hill, Rohrersville, Md., and Mt. Tabor, Md.
From 1963 until his retirement in 1973, he was administrator of the Piney Mountain Home, and since retirement, served as its Chaplain. He and Mrs. Barnhart had made their home on R.R. 3, Fayetteville for the last five years. He was a member of the Mt. Tabor United Brethren Church.
In addition to his widow, Ruth Mongan Barnhart, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Rolin Minot, York, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister and two brothers: Mrs. Pauline Gates, R.R.1 Waynesboro; Austin Barnhart, Greencastle, and Milton Barnhart Jr., Zullinger.
The service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro in charge of the Rev. Paul B. Baker and the Rev. Russell Crawford.
Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the funeral Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Tabor United Brethren Church building fund in care of the Rev. Russell Crawford. R.R. 2 Greencastle.
