Elizabeth arrived in the United States with her family in 1840. They settled in St. John, Lake, Indiana. She was the second oldest of 11 children. On February 15, 1855, she married Adolph Schoult in St. John where their first child was born. In 1857 they had settled in Ramsey, Minnesota, where their second daughter was born. By 1866, they had moved on to Joliet, Will, Illinois, where Anna, their third daughter was born.

Sometime between 1866 and 1873, the family had moved on to Wyandotte, Kansas, where they stayed. The three older daughters and their families remained in the Kansas area but Frances moved with her family to Napa, California, in 1897. Elizabeth and Adolph had 28 grandchildren.

NOTE: Her German birth record states she was born in 1836 which would make her 67 years old at the time of her death and her name was listed as Elisabetha. On various records throughout the years she is listed as Lizzie. Louisa and Elizabeth.
