GALLUP — Funeral services for Martha Julia Thomason, 89, will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12, at First Baptist Church, Gallup. The Rev. Jay McCollum will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Gallup.

Thomason died Aug. 8, 2009, in Grants. She was born Nov. 16, 1919, in Thornton, Ark.
Thomason graduated from Chambersville High School and attended 2 years of business school.

She was employed by Sunwest Bank for 25 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Gallup for 45 years. Thomason was also a member of the Gallup-McKinley County Quilters Guild and a volunteer for RMCH Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and being with family.

Survivors include her son, Ronnie Thomason of Vanderwagen; daughter, Geraldine Thomas of Gallup; brothers, William Thomas Hearnsberger of El Dorado, Ark.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Thomason was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper H. Thomason; father, James Robert Hearnsberger; mother, Amelia Hudson; step-mother, Hazel House; brothers, Durwood Orville Hearnsberger, Robert E. Lee Hearnsberger.

Pallbearers will be William P. Edwards Jr., Rhonda E. Thomason, Robert S. Thomason, Ben E. Curfman, Edward A. Hearsberger, Jimmy Hearnsberger.

The family will receive relatives and friends at First Baptist Church, Gallup, following services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Gallup.
