In her early life and girlhood, Miss Clara Bates was spent in Limestone County, Texas. She came to Graham as a young school teacher. Miss Bates taught in the Graham schools until her marriage to Milton C. Snoddy of Graham, Texas.
Mrs. Snoddy became a member of the Methodist Church in Graham with her husband soon after their marriage and remained a faithful member. She was active in the various departments. Mrs. Snoddy served humanity through various clubs, boards and committees. Mrs. Snoddy was a member of the Young County Board of Child Welfare for three years.
Mrs. Snoddy was a member of many Graham organizations serving as president of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Club. Mrs. Snoddy's way of doing things for others was unpretentious, unannounced and many times unknown, except by her friends.
Survived by her husband; two daughters - Miss Rachel Ann Snoddy and Mrs. John Jesse, Jr; three sisters - Mrs. O.M. Wroe, Miss Ruby Bates, Mrs. Currie McCutcheon; one niece; two nephews.
