Last rites for Mrs. J. W. Lewis, 82, who died yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hunter McCall, 1222 South Myers street, after an illness of two weeks, will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Harry funeral home by Dr. Luther Little, pastor of the First Baptist church, assisted by Dr. E. N. Orr, pastor of the A. R. P. Tabernacle. Burial will be made in Elmwood cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the following nephews of Mrs. Lewis, G. G. Reid, J. W. Reid, Lewis Reid, J. W. Percker, Lewis McCall, Baxter McCall, and Cole Scott.
Before her marriage Mrs. Lewis was Miss Mary Catherine Bennett, the daughter of John Newton Bennett and Catherine Baxter Bennett of Rutherford county. Surviving her are two son and five daughters, Dr. J. V. Lewis of White Plains, N. Y.; Baxter Lewis of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. C. K. Reid of Rutherfordton; Mrs. A. J. [sic] Sanders of Jackson, Miss.; Mrs. A. F. Rucker, Mrs. Hunter McCall and Mrs. Lillie Scott of Charlotte; a brother, W. T. Bennett, and a sister, Miss Ellen Bennett of Rutherford county.
