Ada Butcher  (62)

BORN, Ada Irene Billingsley

WIFE of Claud Lee Butcher.   Married July 26, 1908.  Married 44 years at her death.

MOTHER of:
Jewell Mabel (Butcher) Rogers, Lloyd Lee Butcher, Flossie Magnolia (Butcher) McGehee, Ernest & Bernest Butcher (Twins)

As the story was told to me by my aunt Kay (as she understood it), Ada's father was a Doctor. Her mother died while she was very young. Her dad remarried and they had a son together. For unknown reasons, Ada ran away from home around the age of 12, got on a tugboat and rode it to Fort Smith, Arkansas, ending up in the Muldrow, Oklahoma area.

She met a Doctor in Hansen, OK and he & his wife took her in for around 5 yrs. At a carnival in Muldrow, OK she met Claud Lee Butcher and they soon got married. When her real father died, his son (her 1/2 brother) came to visit Ada and Claud, and gave her money left to her in his will.

1930 Census: Claud(41) and Ada(38) lived in Gans, OK in 1939 and also shows her father and her Mother were both born in Illinois.
