Pioneer of Leland is taken by Death
Mrs. Frances Hicks, 77, one of the earliest settlers of the Potlatch ridge region, locating at Lelan in 1888 and maintaining her home there continuously, died at Leland at 10:45 last night of diabetes. She was born in Troy, Iowa, Dec. 4. 1861. Mrs. Hicks was an affiliate of the Nazarene church at Leland.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Locke, and her step-daughter, Mrs. J. M. Woodward, and eight grandchildren, all of Leland. The body is at the Vassar-Rawls funeral home. Burial arrangements are pending.
