SEDAN, KS - H.V. "Tine" Jones, one of the county's early settlers died at Peru, Kansas, Monday
He was suddenly stricken with paralysis last Sunday morning and died in four hours.
He was born in Ohio 77 years ago. He came from Iowa to Kansas in 1870 and was one of the early settlers of Peru and then moved and founded the village of Jonesburg, KS. Six months ago he sold his farm at Jonesburg and moved to Peru to spend the remainder of his days.
Uncle Tine was a favorite with all classes and noted for his sunny and genial nature.
His remains were laid to rest in the El Cado cemetery Monday.
********************************
His name is Henry Valentine Jones.
He was married to Hulda (Harrington) Jones.
His daughter was Elmira (Jones) Tannahill-Pennell.
He is my great-great-great-grandfather.
I was interested in the obit that you posted. I wish his parents had been listed. I believe that his mother was probably Native American....
