from the Gonzales Archives, Sarah's Memorial Book:

Miss Sarah Nina Logan, 74, of Cost was killed this morning in a car-truck collision at Cost. She was apparently killed instantly.

Funeral services for Miss Logan are pending at the Seydler Funderal Home.

The tragic accident occurred just before 9 a.m. today.

Involved in the accident were a big truck, two passenger cars, and a grocery store.

Miss Logan was alone in her 1964 Buick sedan at the time of the accident. The Buick was struck by a Pruett Feed Company bulk feed truck driven by Joe Gonzales Pena, 33.

Following the impact of the collision of the Buick--feed truck, the Buick veered rightward and slammed into the corner of the Lindemann Bros. grocery store at Cost. The feed truck came to a stop beside the store damaging a black Chevrolet just before it came to rest.

Miss Logan was pulling out of a service station on the North side of the highway, and she apparently pulled out onto the Nixon-Gonzales (State 97) highway starting to go toward Gonzales. She pulled into the path of the oncoming feed truck which was headed West on the highway.

The right front of the feed truck hit the left door of the Buick. The impact of the Buick with the corner of the store bulding caved in the front of the Buick. The store building suffered minor damage.

Persons in the store heard two loud noises--the auto-truck impact, and the impact of the Buick hitting the store.

Highway Patrolman Burney Boeck and Roy Helms investigated the accident.
