Della married when she was seventeen to W. E. McIver at Rolan, Clinton Co., Kentucky, on February 3, 1908. The Bondsman for that marriage was her uncle, George Washington Brown. They were divorced by 1910 as she was back home with her parents on the census that year. She married again on April 28, 1919 in Clinton Co., KY to a kinsman, Thomas Coe Adkins. The Bondsman was J. W. Upchurch. Della and Tom, as he was called, had three children, a son named Shellie who died at 6 days, a daughter named Mauda B. Adkins who was born and died March 16, 1923, and Judy Beatrice Adkins, born September 8, 1924. Della and Tom may have divorced after the births of the three children. We do know Della moved back home again with her parents and died there in 1927 at the age of 36 years, 3 months and 25 days. She is buried in Locust Grove Cemetery in the southeastern tip of Clinton Co., KY. Her mother died about 3 years later and is buried next to her. This is the same cemetery where Della's Aunt Arlena (Brown) Shoopman is buried.
