George Preston Philley, Sr., 81, of 234 1/2 N. 14th died Monday at 8:10 p.m. at hendrick Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of memories, 542 hickory, with O.B. Proctor, minister of the Oak St. Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Hamby Cemetery.
He was born oct. 26, 1893, in Mississippi and was a farmer. he married Hattie Elnora Withrow Sept. 1, 1916 in Abilene.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. hattie Doris Murphy of Irving; two sons, Ray Frank Philley of Victoria and George Preston, Jr. of Coqueille, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Curtis Chrane of Abilene; three brothers, Ulric Philley of Fort Worth, B.T. Chrane of Big Spring; and I.D. Chrane also of Big Spring; 13 grandchildren and 14-great-grandchildren.
His wife and two children preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Letart, Mitch Lea, Jerry Honea, Bill Archer, Jim Philley and buddy Bouldlin.
