Elaine V. (Funk) Winter, age 89, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Oaklawn Hospital. Mrs. Winter was born on May 5, 1920 in Newton Township to Bertholdt and Pearl (Myers) Funk. She was a life long resident of Newton Township and was a graduate of Lakeview High School, class of 1939. She married Richard Earl Winter. Elaine had been employed for fifty five years as a Stanley Home Products Dealer. She was a member of the Newton United Methodist Church and a life member of the Home Grange #129. She loved Butterflies and collected everything she could with butterflies on them. She also enjoyed flowers, stuffed animals, square dancing and shoes. She loved spending time with her granddaughter and great granddaughters. She is survived by her husband, Richard; granddaughter, Toni Miller of Battle Creek; great grandchildren, Hope Earl, Ondrea Miller and Allison Mae Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger G. Winter and a sister, Lucille Flanders. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Newton United Methodist Church. Memoriala are to the Newton Church or the Home Grange #129.
