Funeral Rites at Columbia For Isaac T. Sauls

Isaac Tibbs Sauls, 74, longtime resident of the Tilton community and lifetime Lawrence County resident died December 26 in the Walthall Hospital in Tylertown after an illness of two months.

Mr. Sauls was widely known in this section, residing near the Marion County line and having a large family connection in both Lawrence and Marion counties.

He was a member of the White Bluff Baptist Church and was called a good provider and a man who loved his family. He took an active interest in the community and was willing to help those in need. He had made many good friends in his lifetime and was always willing to help in the church and school of his community.

Mr. Sauls was a retired farmer and timber dealer and had been successful in both lines during his active life.. He was the son of Brister Sauls, early Lawrence county residents.

Funeral services were held at three o'clock Sunday afternoon, December 27, from the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Lowry of Cedar Grove baptist Church, and the Rev. J. M. Brown, pastor of the White Bluff Baptist Church, taking part in the rites. Mrs. Marx P. Brown sang as special selections, "Higher Ground", and "At the Cross."

Interment was in Woodlawn cemetery under direction of Colonial Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Jay G. Sauls, Jewell Sauls, Ray Sauls, John I. Sauls, C. M. Sauls and Lt. Hezzie F. Dunaway, Jr.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ella McNeese Sauls; seven children, Ray Sauls of Foxworth, Mrs. H. F. Dunaway of Columbia, John I. Sauls of Oloh, Hermon Sauls of Tilton, Jay G. Sauls of Tylertwo, Jewell Sauls of Kokomo and Mrs. Bill Thomas of Angie, La.; five brothers, Webb Sauls of Monticello, Dr. Fred Sauls of Laurel, Scott Sauls of Texas City, Texas, C. M. Sauls of Columbia and Stringer Sauls of New York City; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Bracey and Mrs. Bob Thompson of Monticello; fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
