Carl W. Gutman, 78, of Fairdale died Friday at Columbia Southwest Hospital. He was a retired owner and operator of the old Carl's Sunoco Service Station on Southside Drive, an Army Air Force veteran of World War II and a Lutheran. Survivors: his wife, the former Dorothy Mitchell, a daughter, Marsha K. Yates; sons William, Jim and Carl P. Gutman; a brother, George P. Gutman; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday, Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Highway. Burial: Resthaven Memorial. Visitation; 6-9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.
