Mary Oletha Roberts Ward, 81, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Bingham Memorial Extended Care Facility in Blackfoot.
She was born March 6, 1922 in Liberty to David and Lottie Hymas Roberts.
She was raised and attended school in the Bear Lake Valley. She married Walter Ward on November 27, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings in the Relief Society and Primary organizations. She enjoyed being a member of the Paris Sewing Club for many years. She and Walter were also members of the Bear Lake Rangers. She was an excellent cook and is remembered by her family as being able to put a meal together at a moment's notice. She worked side by side with her husband and enjoyed camping and fishing with their friends. Their happiest times were with their children and grandchildren. They made them their top priority.
She leaves behind one son, Randall C (Conan) Ward of Independence, Kansas; four daughters Marie (Marvin) Orr of Moreland, Idaho, Phyllis (Roy) Passey of Montpelier, Karen (Steve) Vasterling of Pocatello and Denise (Brent) McIver of Jerome; 28 grandchildren, 49 grant-grandchildren, one brother, Udell Roberts and two sisters, Verona Bunderson and Illa Gerber.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, one son Martin R Ward, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter and three brothers.
Funeral services were held March 29 at 2 p.m. in the Paris Idaho Stake Center. Interment was in the Bloomington Cemetery with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary.
