Mr. J. Rogers Kratochvil, age 95 years, of Jefferson City, MO. died Monday, February 28 2005 at St. Mary's Health Center.

Mr. Kratochvil was born December 18, 1909, at Clay Center Kansas, the son of Emil and Jessie Rogers Kratochvil, both deceased. He was married on July 31, 1932, at Lucas, Kansas to Thelma Wilcox who survives at the home. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

In 1938, Mr. Kratochvil was employed by the Unemployment Compensation Commission when the first unemployment benefits were issued in the Kansas City office from 1955 until 1965, he was the director of personnel for the Missouri Division of Employment Security and from 1965 until his retirement in 1975, he was the deputy director of the Misouri Division of Emplyments Security.

After retirement, he served on the Governor Commission for Vocational Education. He served as treasurer for the Association of Retired Missouri State Employees. He also worked for the Missouri Public Health Assn. He was a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church and of the Mens Garden Club.

Mr. Kratochvil volunteered many hours with community agencies. Mr. and Mrs. Kratochvil were the paerents of the Special Learning Center being instrumental in the establishment of the center. He enjoyed traveling to visit relatives and life long friends.

Other survivors inclue two daughter, Mary Gove and her husband, Dennis Sebian of Cleveland, Ohio and Margaret Baggett and her husband Bill of Jefferson City, MO.: three grandchildren, John, R. Kratochvil III and his wife Rosa of Jackson, Mississippi, Melanie Holiman of Jackson, Mississippi, Jessica Grove, De Zenil and her husband, Jorge of Louisville, Kentucky; one sister Mildred Reyman and her husband Howard of San Diego, California, five great grandchildren, Marcia Kratochvil, Daniel Kratochvil, Andrew Lucas Kratochvil, Rocky Kratochvil, and Haley Holiman, He was preceded in death by his son John R. Kratochvil Jr. on February 12,1990, His grandson Andrew Kratochvil on September 14, 1993, his brother William Mark in 1946 and his parents Emil and Jessie Kratochvil.

He will be buried in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
