Hobson Curfew Bennett Sr., 89, of Leland, NC, died Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born on November 12, 1915, in Hickmans Crossroads, NC, the son of the late Benjamin and Maggie Hickman Bennett. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Doris K. Bennett, in 2003.
Mr. Bennett was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church for over fifty years. He was the general manager of the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant in Wilmington for forty years before his retirement. An avid fisherman and outdoorsman, Mr. Bennett will be remembered by his family as a devoted and respected husband, father, grandfather, and businessman.
Surviving are three sons, Hobson C. Bennett Jr. of Leland, NC, Mitchell W. Bennett and wife Marian of Leland, NC, Ronald K. Bennett and wife Becky of Kitty Hawk, NC; four grandchildren, Debra B. Routh, Natalie B. Jackson, Ryan K. Bennett and Brent H. Bennett; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2005, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church by Rev. Margaret Hockett. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1401 S. College Rd., Wilmington, NC 28403.
