Margaret Huddleston Davis, 68, of Lorena, Texas, passed away in her sleep Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009. Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Waco Memorial Park.

Margaret was born in Waco, Texas, to Elmer and Mary Brown Huddleston. Her father, a Waco policeman, was killed in the line of duty a month before Margaret was born. She was raised by her mother with help from her godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Studer. Margaret attended Waco Public Schools and graduated from Waco High School in 1958. She married Tommy Davis on Nov. 12, 1960. They spent the first three years of their marriage in El Paso. After moving back to Waco in 1963, she attended Baylor University, achieving a Master of Arts in English. Margaret taught at Baylor in the English Department for 30 years and retired in 2000 at age 60. During her tenure at Baylor, she taught Advanced English Grammar as well as courses in English composition and literature. The family moved to Lorena in 1974, where Margaret lived the rest of her life.

She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Margaret Ann Davis; her parents; and godparents.

She is survived by husband, Tommy Davis, of Lorena; daughter, Lesa Ann Lawson and husband, Jim; twin sons, Joe Charles and wife, Erin, and Richard Lee and Roxanne; and grandchildren, Patricia, Mary Elizabeth and Tommy Lee Davis.
