Obituary: SMITHFIELD, UTAH: Lawrence (Larry) Andrew Hansen, 81, of Smithfield, Utah, passed away Monday, August 27, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 23, 1926, in Smithfield, Utah, to John T. and Sena Holjeson Hansen.

Lawrence married Gretta Gibbs on August 24, 1949.

The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in July 2005.

They enjoyed 58 years together raising a family in Hyrum, Utah. As a young man Lawrence enjoyed raising horses and farming. He was a skilled tradesman and throughout his life he held many occupations including dairyman, maintenance mechanic, and concrete contractor. He could "fix-it-all" and spent countless hours helping his family and friends", He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter and a youth baseball coach. Lawrence was a great gardener. He took pride in his flower and vegetable gardens, especially his roses. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great­grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Gretta Gibbs Hansen and children Nancy (Bruce) Petersen of Boise, ID, Cordell (Vicki) Hansen of Boise, ID, Larry (Laurie) Hansen of Keizer, OR, Jeff (Pam) Hansen of Young Ward, UT, Ron (Dani) Hansen of Pocatello, ID, and Michael (Terre) Marshall of Lake Point, UT; siblings Hilda Fergeson of Strasburg, VA, Roland Hansen of Smithfield, UT, Lyman Hansen or Smithfield, UT, and Florence Wheeler of Lewiston, UT.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers and two sisters, grandson Jeremy Hansen, and two great-grandsons Skyler Petersen and Forrest Petersen.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, August 30, in the Smithfield 10th Ward chapel, 345 East 300 South, Smithfield. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 29 at the Allen- Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan, and from 10:30-11 :30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will be at the Hyrum Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net.
