LOUISE ELIZABETH BENWAY

Louise Elizabeth LaFavre Benway, daughter of Jefferson and Hattie Martin LaFavre, was born in Pleasant Township, September 10, 1889 and passed away at the Ottumwa Hospital June 16, 1962, at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 6 days.

When a young girl she joined the Center Church. Most of her life was spent in the Russell and Ottumwa communities. December 28, 1928 she was united in marriage to Lester Benway.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband; two children by a previous marriage, Alva Lockridge and Genevieve Sheldon of Russell; two grandchildren, Cecil Lockridge of Chariton and Alan Lockridge of Russell; two great-grandchildren, David and Vicki Jo Lockridge of Chariton; two brothers, Delno of Russell and Harl of Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs Faye Myers of California and Mrs. Hazel Bates of St. Louis; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ruth and Edith and four brothers, Elymer, Ernest, Lloyd and Trace and one grandchild, Charles J. Putman.

Her greatest pleasure was acheived when she was helping somone else. Her happy and loving ways will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 18, 1962 at 2:00 p.m. at the Woodman Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Burdette Werts, Russell Miksell, Clell LaFavre, Don Hadley, Dean Boswell and Glen LaFavre. Mrs. Jean Price and Mrs. Margaret Curtis were accompanied by Mrs. Marie Woodman for two selections. Rev. Charles Hern officiated.

Interment was in the Russell Cemetery.
