Barb passed away on March 22nd following a battle with cancer. Barb was born on March 9th, 1962 in Austin, MN to Dave and Carol King. She graduated from Austin High School in 1980 and Austin College in 1982. She then attended the University of MN and received her medical degree from the School of Medicine. Barb became a partner with Southdale Pediatrics in 1985 working primarily from their Eden Prairie and Edina locations. Barb had a passion for travel, cooking, gardening, reading, her pets, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Barb will be missed by her family, many friends and patient families that she came to know throughout her career as a pediatrician. Barb is survived by her husband, Jim Berg of Eden Prairie (born/raised in Austin, MN); her parents, Dave & Carol King of Austin, MN; her brother, Brian King of Austin, MN; father and mother-in-law, Bob and Laurie Berg, Austin, MN; sisters-in-law, Jan (Dale) Thorn, Lonetree, CO, LuAnn Kasak, Apple Valley, MN; brother-in-law, Michael (Mary) Berg, Rochester, MN; nieces and nephews, Robert (Andrea) and son, Porter Kasak, Minneapolis, MN, Kelly Berg, Minneapolis, MN, Daniel and Madalyn Berg, Rochester, MN, Abby Thorn, Fort Collins, CO and Tyler Thorn, Lonetree, CO. I read Barb's journal from caringbridge which I came across from another site that was requesting prayers for her at the time. Though I haven't read it very long before she passed from earth to her Eternal Home, Barb was another inspiration to me. She taught me to appreciate life and be happy while you are in it becuase well..you just don't know how much longer you will have. Barb was a beautiful person.
