David N. King, age 87 of Austin, Minnesota died Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Our House Senior Living. He was born February 14, 1930 in Braham, Minnesota, the son of Joseph E. and Evelyn (Norton) King. David graduated from Austin High School in 1947 and attended the Austin Area Vocational Technical Institute. He made his living as a machinist for Hormel Foods for 39 years, retiring in 1986. On February 20, 1955, David married Carol Lechnir. Their union was blessed with three children. David served his country in the U.S. Army from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1952. He served in the Korean War, achieving the rank of Corporal. A member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin, David was active in his community. He belonged to the United Support Group, American Legion, and the V.F.W. He enjoyed the neighborhood kids, and liked to work on cars, attending many car shows in the area. He owned the first Jaguar licensed in the State of Minnesota. David will be dearly missed by his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife Carol of Austin; his son Brian of Austin, son-in-law James Berg of Eden Prairie, sisters-in-law, Mildred King, Lucille and Beverly Lechnir; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, his daughters Lisa and Dr. Barbara Berg, two brothers and one sister.
