Rev Colby died while on a long preaching trip to Ohio on way back home to VT. A memorial to him is in the Sutton Village Cem, Sutton, VT. He was a very talented, rising star...mourned by his denomination when he died
He was called the Boy Preacher.

St. Paul's, was known as the Borough Church in Rev. Colby's time. When I was out
at the church the sexton was trying to help me locate the grave and told me the
story of the Baptists at the old church. In the early 1800's the Episcopal
congregation had a contentious split. One group left and formed Christ's Church,
today part of a Christ's and St. Luke's. The remaining group at the Borough
Church continued to splinter apart with some members joining the Presbyterians.
After a few years the remaining congregation had dissolved. After May of 1803
the Baptist occupied the building and remained until 1816 when they built a new
church on Cumberland Street forerunner of today's First Baptist Church of
Norfolk. Legend has it the Rev. Colby only preached a few sermons at the old
Borough Church but so loved the church and grounds that he requested to be
buried there.
