Kathryn was born in Luzerne, and was the daughter of Peter Cornelius Gallagher and Mary Ellen Ferry. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the Internal Revenue Service in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She lived with her sisters, Rose and Mary in Kingston at the time of her death. She never married and had no children.
