ENTIRE FAMILY BURNED TO DEATH

Roy White, Wife and Four Children Lose Their Lives In Hotel Fire in Cheyenne, Wyoming

The people of this community were shocked by the awful news that Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. White and four children, had been burned to death in a hotel fire at Cheyenne, Wyoming, on Sunday night. They had been residing in Bayles, California, the past few years, and were summoned here recently by the death of his father, John A. White, which occured on October 24th.

Friday evening they started on the return trip home and stopped in Cheyenne, Wyoming to visit Mrs. White's sister, Miss Fern Patterson, who is employed in the state house at that place. They had expected to go down to Divide, Wyoming on Monday to visit Richard Brown and family, also formerly of this place. On Sunday evening, about an hour before the fire, Mr. White and family engaged a room at the Inter-Ocean hotel as the accomodations at the home of Miss Patterson were not sufficient.

No particulars have been received. The first message stated that the baby was still alive, but later advices state that the entire family was burned to death. City papers gave the information that Mr. White jumped from the third story window of the hotel and fell among electric light wires, which caused his death.

His brother, Guy White, and Mrs. White's brother and sister, Guy Patterson and Mrs. Chas. Essex, departed Monday morning for Cheyenne in response to the horrifying news. The bodies arrived in Chariton this morning about 10 o'clock on a delayed train from the west and funeral services will be held from the home of Mrs. J. A. White this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Jos. Goodsell will conduct the services and the bodies will be interred in Spring Hill cemetery.

Roy White is the son of Mrs. John A. White, of English township, and his wife was formerly Miss Ethel Patterson, daughter of John Patterson, of this city. Their marriage occured in Los Angeles, Calif., on March 15th, 1909. Mrs. White was twenty-eight years of age, Mr. White about thirty.

Both have always enjoyed the high regard and esteem of all with whom they came in contact, their splendid qualities winning for them friends wherever they went. The four little sons were sweet, lovable lads, full of life and vim, and those who saw the happy family when they left here less than a week ago can hardly realize that all have been plunged into eternity.

The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community will go out to the grief stricken parents, brothers and sisters, and other relatives in this awful calamity.
