William M. Parker Scott, born 3 April 1848, near Knoxville, Tennessee, the son of H.S. and Rebecca Scott. He married on 27 August 1875, Virginia Ann "Jennie" McPherson (1850-1936). They initially lived at Gibson Station in Lee County, Virginia, but later moved to Shawnee in Claiborne County, Tennessee only to return to Lee County during the Civil War after their home was occupied by Federal troops. Following the war, they returned to Shawnee, Tennessee where he was a successful farmer and livestock dealer. They both are buried in the Scott Cemetery at Shawnee in Claiborne County, Tennessee. They had four children: Lula "Lou" Scott, Joseph Scott, Nancy C. Scott, and James Parker Scott.
