Thomas Loyd Dees went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 8, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer. He passed away at home surrounded by his loving family.Thomas was born on January 25th, 1928 in Seymour, Texas. He came from a large family of 11 children, 7 boys and 4 girls. The family lived on a farm and moved to Houston, Texas in 1942. Thomas worked hard at a young age to help support the family. He worked at a bakery when he was 15 years old. Thomas studied hard and became a master electrician,working for several major companies in the Houston area. He obtained his 1st, 2nd and 3rd class Stationary Engineer's license and was Chief Engineer at Texas Women's University.Thomas also was a Deputy Sheriff for the Harris County Sheriff's Department in his earlier years. He spent his final working career as a building inspector for the City of Houston for 15 years and retired at the age of 65. Thomas spent several years teaching Sunday School.and was a Deacon at Jacinto City Church of Christ, where they were faithful members for several years. He was currently a member of the Greens Bayou Church of Christ. His kindness and sense of humor brought happiness to everyone.No matter how much pain he was in, he always had a smile on his face.Thomas especially liked to tell jokes and humor his daughter-in-laws and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years,Rachel Evangeline; 3sons, Eddie and wife, Donna of Crosby, Johnny and wife, Carol of Crosby and Tommy and wife, Kim of Garrison; 3 granddaughters, Rachel Dees of Sulphur Springs, Stacie Dees
of Humble and Katrina Dees of Houston; 2 grandsons, Chris and Mark Dees of Garrison; 2 brothers, Danny Dees of Clear Lake and Jackie Dees of Houston; 1 sister, Norma Sue
Seymour of Greenville, MS and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Thomas' Life was conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008 with Mr. Richard George of Crosby Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed in San Jacinto Memorial Park
