Fay Hamilton, 78 , formerly of Cahokia, Ill., born May 27, 1931, in Grimsby, Ill., passed away on July 27, 2009, at Canterbury Manor Nursing Center, Waterloo, Ill..

Mrs. Hamilton was a member of The First Baptist Church, Dupo, IL. Prior to her illness, she had volunteered with Hospice of Southern Illinois, and regularly visited homebound members of her church community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hamilton, whom she married on May 15, 1952, in Columbia, Ill., and who died on June 6, 1994; father, Elmer Wortham; mother, Vesta, nee Conder, Wortham; son, Steven Hamilton; sisters, Laura Hoppe, Dorothy Sanders, Alice McRoy, and Rosie Hall.

Surviving are her children, Michael (Tammie) Hamilton of Ft. Worth, Texas, Diane (Keith) Burns of Caseyville, Ill., and Elizabeth "Becky" (John) Burns of Dupo, Ill.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Lee Wortham of Gorham, Ill.; and a sister, Marie Rogers of Murphysboro, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Lawlor Funeral Home in Columbia, Ill., with Brother Bill Dempsey, officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodbread Cemetery, Gorham, Ill.
