MRS. JENNIE SCHRUM
Mrs. Jennie Schrum, for several years a resident of this place, died at her home in east Chariton on Sunday afternoon, March 29, 1931, at the age of 59 years, 1 month and 22 days, after an extended illness.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. R. F. Allen, were held at the Christian church on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, followed by interment in the Grimes cemetery west of this city.
Deceased was born in Flat Rock, Missouri, on February 7, 1871. When but fifteen years of age she was united in marriage to Lew Wingate. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Ross Keller, now of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Mrs. Belle Connor, of Chariton, who passed away on July 21, 1929.
On January 20, 1891, she was married to Aden Schrum. To this union seven children were born. Her husband and five sons preceded her in death. Besides the daughter, Mrs. Keller, mentioned above, two daughters, Mrs. Charles Phillips, of Russell, and Miss Daisy Schrum, of Chariton, are left to mourn their loss. There are also seven grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Schrum had been a member of the Christian church for many years and lived a devoted Christian life. During her residence here she had won a large circle of friends by her many fine qualities, who will extend sympathy to the sorrowing ones.
