Esther Harman by Her next friend John Weidler Vs John Harman
April 18 1836 on motion of R Frazor Esquire the Court appoints John Mathiot Esq. a commissioner to take testimony on the part of the plaintiff in this case.

In persuance of the above appointment personally came
Before me, the commissioner above named, George Hambright
Aged fifty eight years, who being duly affirmed accord=
Ing to law doth depose and say ----following---I have
Known the parties in the above case for thirty years. The
Said John Harman left tha habitation of the said Esther
Harman his wife, which was then in Lampeter Township
Lancaster County about nine years since, and I think
More, and has not since returned to live with his said wife,
And that such deserti0on and abse4nce was willful and malicious
As he the defendant believes ad without a reasonable cause
To the best of his knowledge and belief ---That he has since
Seen the said John Harman in Philadelphia, who told
Him, when speaking of leaving his said wife, that he knew
He had done wrong but it couldn't be helped now,
And that many a man has done wrong before

Also appeared Christian St Loise, aged twenty five years.
Who being duly sworn according to law, doth depose and
Say – I have known the parties in this case for twelve
Years. John Harmon deserted and left his wife Esther
and his home better than nine years ago without any
cause that I know of – he has not since returned –
he lived at the time of deserting his wife in Lampeter Township Lancaster County – and his said desertion and absence from the habitation of his said wife was willful and malicious and without a reasonable cause to the Best of his knowledge and belief. Signed: Christian St Loise,
