Levi Landis appeared affirmed, and testifies
As follows and is of age.

I know John Harman the defendant,
I never seen his wife that I know of.
As near as I can tell, I know him 9
Or 10 years and during that time I
Don't know that he lived with his wife.
About 9 or 10 years ago he worked
two winters at our farm, off and on.
He had left his wife at that time -.
He told me that he could not keep his
wife on account of costing him too much..
This last fall, about the beginning of
October he was back again at our farm,
Until about two weeks ago – he was most
of that time at our house working and
had his home there – I heard him say
this winter that his wife had to do with
other men. He said to me that he and
his wife should live separate. I don't
think or know of his keeping any body but
himself. He did not appear to be able to do more
than that. He has children

and testified as follows - and is of age

I live in Upper Leacock Township.
I knew both the parties John Harman and
His wife about six yeqrs. – They do not
Live together now I think she lived at
Sandis's at the year about 1842 or 43 sepaarate
And apart from her husband. Toi the best
Of my knowledge he did not provide for
Her at that time, and to my knowledge
They have not lived together since. Some
Years ago I saw him intoxicated, and before
That he had the name of a man given to
Intoxication. - She lived at Stouffers, I think
about the year 1846 or 47 the last I know
of her living anywhere separate and apart
from her husband. About 1845 or 46 she
worked at our place for my father by
the day. Signed: Samuel Eaby

as follows

I live in Upper Leacock Township.
I am about 30 years of age -- I know the
Parties, these 7 or 8 years or longer. It is
Longer than 6 or 7 years that Joh Harman
Left his wife – from the most that I know
of she took care of herself, and sustained herself
by her own industry. She had her children
that I sometimes seen with her---and as
much as I know she maintained the children..
Harman sometimes gets in liquor. He
Lives about from place to place and it is
As much as he can do to keep himself. I don't
Know why he left her. As much as I know
she is a fine industrious woman and a good house
keeper.- Previous to their separation they
had lived together aws man and wife.

I live in Upper Leacock Township.
I am about 27 years of age ---

He told me sometime last summer before
Haymaking, that he would kill his wife,
And threatened he would shoot her---
He generally took sprees , and hardly
Ever sober when he was with me, by chance
Now and then –I can't tell where he
now lives –Wherever they'll keep him
is generally his home, so far as I know-
