Marilyn L. Pitt, who had lived in Burlington since 1992, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Stormont-Vail hospital in Topeka. She was 53.
The funeral is planned for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, where the family will meet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Burlington.
She was born July 1, 1953, in Upper Lake, Calif., the daughter of Ray and Hazel Keys Gibson. She grew up in the Los Angeles area until she was 16, when she moved to Bartlesville, Okla. She attended beauty school and worked for several years as a beautician in Coffeyville and Independence. She was then employed at Emerson Electric in Independence. From 1987 to 1990 and from 1992, she was employed in security at the Wolf Creek Generating Station.
She married Edgar L. "Ted" Pitt Jr. on July 7, 1995, in Burlington. He survives.
Mrs. Pitt is also survived by two daughters, Tanaya Koger of Burlington and Julie Koger of Zeandale, and two grandchildren, who live in Zeandale. Her mother, Hazel VanDyne of Vancouver, Wash., survives, as do three brothers, Ray Gibson of Vancouver and Jim Jordan and Robert Jordan, both of Portland, Ore.; and six sisters, Irene Gibson and Sharon Fabela, both of Vancouver, Barbara Gibson and Ruby Manker, both of Oroville, Wash., Betty Vigar of Anaheim, Calif., and Sandy Hays of Fostoria, Ohio.
Her father died earlier, as did two sisters, Rayma Rose Gibson and Mary Catherine Gibson Wicker.
