Alureda Maude (Stewart) Anderson, 89 died Saturday, in the Hoemko Hospital. She was a retired teacher and farmer and was brought to Arizona 83 years ago. Her family farmed in this Casa Grande area since 1919. They settled in the Mesa-Tempe area where they operated a dairy and also had cattle ranches in Northern Arizona.

Mrs Anderson graduated from the Temple Norman school in 1903 and taught elementary school in the Alma school district in Mesa.
In 1919 the family moved to Casa Grande where she and her husband farmed. She also taught school at the Signal Peak school house for some 10 years. Her husband Morrell preceded her in death in 1945.

She served on the Casa Grande Union High School board of trustees from 1930 to 1936. She was a founding member of the Desert Women's Club of Casa Grande; past president of the Women's Club of Casa Grande; member of the Colonial Daughter's of America; the Presbyterian Church and the Women's Association of the church.

Alureda Maude Stewart and Morrell Albert Anderson married 7 Sep 1910 in Tempe, Arizona. They had three sons. Their son Rex Stewart Anderson died in 1968.

Survivors include her sons, George and Bob Anderson; her sister, Mrs Marie Hazard; her brothers, Harry A Stewart and Bob Stewart; Mrs Eloise Anderson, widow of her late son Rex Anderson; seven grandchildren and five g-grandchildren.
