Mary "Melba" Elizabeth Nelson Johnson, age 93, died January 29, 1993 in a local hospital.
She was born March 1, 1899, in Brigham City, Utah, daughter of Jacob Carl and Mary Ann "May" Cox Nelson. She married Viggo Emil Johnson October 9, 1920, in Salt Lake City, later solemnized in the LDS Temple. She is preceded in death by her husband and sons John V. and Paul E. Active in the auxiliaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; officer in the Typographical Auxiliary #16; member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (D.U.P.)
The family wishes to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at South Davis Community Hospital for their tender, loving care.
She is survived by her children: Mrs. W. R. (Dee) Unger, Daly City, Calif.; Mrs. Douglas P. (Ruth) Westenskow, Simi Valley, Calif.; Bill K. and Peggy, Sandy; Mrs. D.L. (Barbara) Chapin, W. Jordan, Mrs. Gary R. (Janice) Blodgett, Bountiful; Mrs. John V. (Haleen) Johnson, Clearfield; 24 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; brothers and sister: Carl E. Bloomington, UT; John W., Sandy; Bernell C., Oregon and Portia Nelson, New York.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 4, 1993 at 1:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to the services.
Interment in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
