John Winslow Nelson, passed away Friday, June 7, 1996.

He was born August 3, 1906 in Brigham City, Utah to Jacob Carl and Mary Ann Cox Nelson. He married Fern Pardoe on November 18, 1929 in Malad, Idaho. They spent almost 67 years together.

John was employed by Shell Development Research in Emeryville, Calif., as a Scientific Glassblower. He served an honorable mission in Eastern Canada for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended Weber College and University of California in Berkeley. He enjoyed his activities as a debator and involvement in Drama. He and his wife produced, directed, and acted in many plays in the San Francisco Bay area. He had a beautiful speaking voice, and was always an avid gardener, cook, and canner.

He loved to learn, to sing, to be with his family and friends. He was a true example of a gentleman, loving husband, fun father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His patience was never ending. He was very devoted to his sweet wife and concerned for her every need, even when his energies had finally run out.
