Anderson, a longtime Perkins County commissioner, died at the Hillcrest Care Center at Hettinger, N.D., Saturday. He was born Nov. 1, 1888, at Ridgeway, Iowa, where he was educated and grew up. In 1909 he homesteaded in the Chance area of Perkins County.
He married Tina Louise Johnson in December 1912 and the couple moved to a farm southwest of Bison. They lived there until 1924, when they moved to Bison to allow their children to attend school.
He continued to farm and in 1946 he and his son-in-law began operating the Bison Service garage, which they ran for many years. He served on the Perkins County board of commissioners for 33 years, several of those years as chairman. He was instrumental in the construction of the Perkins County Courthouse. He also served on the Bison Town Board. He was a member of the Bison American Lutheran Church.
His wife died in 1968. He lived in Bison until August, when he entered the nursing home.
He is survived by one daughter, Fern Krause of Bison; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one brother, Anton Anderson of Ridgeway, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by one daughter, oen son, two grandsons, three brothers and three sisters.
