JAMES ALBERT ASHCRAFT

James Albert Ashcraft died at the home of his son, L. M. Ashcraft, in Lanes Creek township Sunday morning June 20th, about 2:15 o'clock. He was born December 1, 1858, and was therefore 84 years of age last December. He was a son of the late Alyexander Jackson Ashcraft and Mary Ann Greene Ashcraft. He was married to Miss M. Wilma Rushing on January 2, 1890. To this union was born five children, three of whom survive, two sons, J. Elmer Ashcraft of Anson county and L. May Ashcraft of Lanes Creek township, and one daughter, Mrs. J. A. Larrisey of Charlotte. His wife died on September 2, 1896. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He had been a faithful member of Gilboa Methodist church since August, 1885. He was a successful farmer and one of the old school citizens who made truth and honesty his principal aim in life. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.

Funeral and interment were at Bethel Baptist church Monday morning at 10 o'clock, services conducted by Rev. R. C. Kirk, Rev. W. A. Knight and Rev. T. J. Huggins.
