Death of Miss Ashcraft

Following a long illness, Miss Martha Elizabeth Ashcraft died Friday at her home in Marshville township. She was a daughter of the late Jackson Ashcraft, who died of typhoid fever while he was serving as a soldier in the Confederate army. Miss Ashcraft's life was one of devotion and service. Her aged mother, who died a number of years ago, was the especial object of her devotion. She was a most helpful and kind neighbor and strong in the christian faith. She was 71 years of age and lived her long life in the community of her birth. She is survived by two brothers, Messrs. Henderson Ashcraft and Albert Ashcraft of Marshville township, and a sister, Mrs. J. C. Huggins of Lanes Creek township. Funeral was held last Saturday at the family cemetery in Lanes Creek township. Rev. M.D.L. Preslar and Elder W.C. Edwards conducted the services.
